About the Method

The Anat Baniel Method SM (ABM) helps people of all ages overcome pain and limitation and achieve lifetime fitness and vitality. The method accesses the remarkable capacity of the human brain to form new connections and reach levels of performance never achieved before.

The Anat Baniel MethodSM is based on the teachings of Moshe Feldenkrais and the belief that movement is key in communicating with the brain to facilitate learning.

Tens of thousands of people seeking an alternative and complementary approach to helping children with special needs, physical therapy, medicine, and fitness training have used the ABM with great success.

The work is used in two ways—through Functional Synthesis (FS) and Transformational Movement Lessons (TML).

During Functional Synthesis, the practitioner uses gentle touch to guide the client through a series of movements and provides the brain with new information it needs to bring about remarkable changes.

During Transformational Movement Lessons the instructor verbally guides the group through a series of small movements, based on a certain action or function.

Unlike exercise or therapies, there are no extreme efforts, forceful stretching, or painful movements. Through slow, gentle, guided movements, participants are given the opportunity to make new connections within the brain.
